Navigating Grief During the Holidays

A Special Message from Bereavement Coordinator Rebekah Albert

The Holiday season can be an especially hard time for many people. Family gatherings and holiday celebrations can amplify grief and loss, regardless of when your loved one died.

Rebekah Albert, Bereavement Coordinator, has created two resources for the holiday season:

Asking for Support During the Holidays: this resource provides specific examples of ways to ask for support. Often after a loss, people hear the question, “How can I help?”, but may not know where to begin, or how to ask for what they need. As you read, pay attention to which statements resonate with your grief journey.

Five Tips for Navigating Grief at the Holidays: this resource from Theara Coleman includes tips for those experiencing grief during holidays, including suggestions for how to set personal boundaries and reframing hard feelings.

Remember, you are not alone in your grief. Reach out to Rebekah for support navigating the loss of your loved one to ALS. Everyone’s journey with grief is different, and there is no “right” way to grieve.
