Hello from ALS Northwest’s New Executive Director

A New Start

I am so honored to be stepping into the role of Executive Director and to lead this incredible organization into the future. Over the years, I have been inspired by what this community can accomplish together.

For the past eight years, I have served as the Care Services Director and, most recently, as Senior Director of Mission and Operations. I have witnessed firsthand the dedication to supporting people living with ALS and their families and to advancing research and advocacy efforts to end this disease.

MY LEARNING JOURNEY CONTINUES

I have learned so much from the ALS community during my tenure and believe strongly in the power of collaboration. We owe tremendous gratitude to Lance Christian for his 22 years of exceptional leadership, which has positioned ALS Northwest for a bright future. Lance has been an incredible mentor to me, and I am committed to building on the strong foundation he and this community have created. Together, we will continue to expand care services and support for people living with ALS and their families, now and in the years to come.

Cassy supporting our community at ALS Northwest’s Family Day.

Looking Ahead – What’s Next For Us

ALS RESEARCH

The state of ALS research today gives me immense hope. Collaboration with other ALS organizations, researchers, scientists, and clinicians allows us to support and fund the most promising projects. The research landscape for ALS has evolved tremendously in even just the last five years. Research and clinical trials provide critical insights that pave the way for new opportunities. Our commitment to research and innovation remains steadfast.

ADVOCACY

Advocacy is equally vital- meeting with legislators and advancing policies that expand access to healthcare, support for care partners, and funding for research are critical to our mission. Access to specialized multidisciplinary ALS care through skilled and compassionate clinicians across Oregon and Southwest Washington remains a strategic priority. Many face challenges in accessing care, medications, and transportation. ALS Northwest will continue to advocate for these resources and for equity in access to essential services.

Cassy is looking forward to making more connections with our community this year.

I Love This Mission & Community

At the heart of ALS Northwest is collaboration, community building, and a deep commitment to listening to the voices of those impacted by this disease. Whether through volunteering, meeting with legislators, fundraising at our ALS Walk events, or donating to support research, we all have a role in ridding the world of this disease.

I am eager to connect with as many individuals as possible who have been impacted by this diagnosis and who contribute to the strength of ALS Northwest. I encourage you to reach out—my door is always open.

You can contact me via email, phone, or social media. Also, keep an eye out for my future communications through our e-news and blog.

With gratitude,
