Have you heard? RAPA Therapeutics’ recent Expanded Access Protocol (EAP) allows people with ALS who are otherwise ineligible for clinical trials to access a promising new treatment called RAPA-501. Donors like you play a crucial role in innovative research efforts, helping make our vision of a cure for ALS a reality.
To continue this research, we need your support. Will you donate today and fund modern initiatives like this one?
RAPA-501 is an epigenetically reprogrammed autologous cell therapy aimed at reducing inflammation and slowing the progression of ALS. Research advancements like this have a profound impact on people with ALS, as clinical trials are a necessary step in the creation of new medical treatments. Our ALS Clinics are often where people with ALS first learn about clinical trials.
In collaboration with Mass General Hospital, RAPA Therapeutics’ EAP tests RAPA-501 in people living with ALS who have significant respiratory compromise – people who otherwise have no treatment options available to them. A phase 1 trial of this new immune treatment has already been completed and showed that it’s feasible, safe, and potentially capable of reducing the harmful impacts of ALS. We have much to celebrate thanks to dedicated individuals like you who are committed to creating a future without ALS.
Dr. Daniel Fowler, Chief Medical Officer of RAPA Therapeutics, describes how your contribution directly supports research initiatives like RAPA-501: “ALS Northwest has been very generous in their support of RAPA Therapeutics in our collective efforts to develop new treatments for patients living with ALS. Without such support from ALS Northwest, our chances of obtaining further support from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to conduct the RAPA-501 Expanded Access Protocol (EAP) would have been diminished.
That is, ALS Northwest funding our research at a relatively early stage (phase 1 trial) allowed us to conduct in-depth immune mechanistic experiments that illustrated the potential capacity of RAPA-501 to modulate disease pathways in patients living with ALS… The RAPA Therapeutics team expresses our sincere gratitude for your support.” To keep up this momentum, we need your help.
Together, we can drive research forward and create a world in which ALS no longer steals lives and dreams. Each step forward in ALS research provides hope to individuals with ALS and their families—the hope that we will discover medications that provide them with a fighting chance, and the hope that one day, ALS will no longer be a devastating diagnosis. By donating to ALS research, you bring us closer to that future.
Give now to fund critical research initiatives and provide hope to countless individuals and families affected by ALS.
