Springing Into Action: Walks, Advocacy and What’s Ahead

Updates From Our Executive Director:

With spring in full bloom and as we move into this new year together, I’m looking forward to connecting with you more regularly through blog posts and e-news updates that share our plans, progress, and purpose.

Walking Towards Meaningful Change

Speaking of spring, one of our other favorite seasons is here: Walk ALS! We’re getting ready for six community Walks across Oregon and SW Washington, and we couldn’t be more excited to walk alongside you. These events are not only powerful fundraisers, they’re also about connection, honoring loved ones, and showing up for one another in the fight against ALS.

While we gather in our communities, we’re also looking ahead. This year, we’re launching a community-centered strategic planning process to hear directly from you: people living with ALS, care partners, advocates, and supporters. Your voice will help guide our work and shape the future of ALS Northwest.

Springing Into Action, Together

We’re also expanding ways to stay connected and take action. Whether it’s advocating for better care and access, or advancing research, we’re working to keep you informed and engaged. We just launched new quarterly advocacy and research email updates—tailored to keep you in the know and make it easy to take action or learn more about the topics you care about most.

Our advocacy priorities this year include:

  • Expanding access to research and clinical trials
  • Strengthening financial and caregiver support
  • Improving healthcare access and coverage

Letters of Intent for ALS Research Funding

And in research news—ALS Northwest is teaming up with ALS Network and other ALS United organizations to support promising new studies. Letters of intent for ALS research funding are now being accepted. The 2025 application opens April 15. Check www.alsnetwork.org on the “research” tab and go to the “apply for funding” page. For questions email research@alsnetwork.org.

As always, we remain committed to providing high-quality programs and support to everyone living with ALS and their care teams across Oregon and SW Washington. We’re here for you—and we’re building this future together.

With gratitude,

Cassy Adams

Executive Director
