Strategic Plan 2026 – 2031

RE: Sharing Our Strategic Plan

Dear Community,

I am proud to share our new strategic plan, a roadmap that reflects the strength, insight, and courage of our community. This plan comes at a pivotal moment for ALS Northwest, as we embrace greater local autonomy and renewed leadership while remaining steadfast in our mission. It was shaped by the thoughtful feedback we received from the ALS community, ensuring your voices guided every priority.

Because this was such an important moment in our organization’s evolution, we engaged a strategic planning consultant, yes ampersand, to guide the process. We also formed a strategic planning committee made up of staff members, a person living with ALS, a caregiver and family member, and a board representative. This group helped design a community-wide survey that received a record 221 responses, many from people living with ALS, caregivers, family members, and others directly connected to our work. With support from the consultant, we held a joint board and staff retreat, followed by a staff retreat. We are grateful to a local grant funder whose support covered the costs of these activities.

The plan outlines our commitment to advancing care, driving advocacy, fueling research, and deepening collaboration until we achieve a world free of ALS. At its core, this plan is a reflection of you. Thank you for lending your voice, expertise, and belief in what we can accomplish together. Guided by this plan, we move forward with clarity and shared determination.

“This strategic plan represents a bold vision for ALS Northwest and the communities we serve. It is grounded in collaboration and focused on impact, noted Jason Drucker, Board President of ALS Northwest.

For a quick overview, here are the key pillars that will guide our work in the years ahead:

  • Deliver high-quality, responsive services to ensure equitable access to ALS care and support
  • Deepen regional and national collaboration to expand reach and impact
  • Amplify advocacy and public awareness to advance policies and understanding
  • Accelerate ALS research through investment and collaboration
  • Strengthen organizational capacity for long-term sustainability and inclusive culture

Together, these priorities position us to make meaningful progress for everyone impacted by ALS.
